About the event
Our 7-day/6-night Global Immersion Experience in Costa Rica is designed to provide transformative global learning experiences for university students and mentors who are leaders in their fields. The program's goals include fostering critical thought, intercultural proficiency, and leadership development. Participants will gain practical experiences outside the United States, preparing them for successful careers in the global workforce or further developing their entrepreneurial skills.
Students will go through an application process to be selected to join the cohort. Upon acceptance, students will enter an 8-week program. The first 5 weeks will be comprised of weekly informational sessions on the trip and program, as well as students creating their groups to find an innovative solution to a problem in their host country (Costa Rica). They will spend 5 weeks meeting and innovating with one another to find a proposed solution. Â Upon the 6th week, they will depart to their international destination and spend 7 days abroad where they will go through a culmination of experiences together to determine or develop the validity of their proposed idea and even maybe spark a new idea or change. Â Â
Upon returning, the groups will use the final 2 weeks to present what their takeaway is: whether their idea was valid or invalid, gained insight on how to adapt their idea to work, whether they got a new idea, or determined what they were able to learn from this experience. Upon presenting, students will have completed the program and receive feedback, as well as resources to move forward with any idea they’d like. Students will also receive program completion internship certificates and individual reference letters.
